Mick LaSalle Almost Gets it Right

Total agreement that Australia is a piece of garbage. No, it's the rat piss on the piece of garbage thrown out and left in the gutter to rot.

But LaSalle's review of Alien vs. Predator? Crazy wrong!

Replace AVP with Crash (also released in 2004) and now the list is complete. Remember that overwrought, over-acted, predictable, completely fake, self-indulgent movie that caused Hollywood to pee all over itself with glee? The Oscar winner times three?!?!? AVP kills Trash...I mean, Crash.

Alien vs. Predator not only saved the Alien franchise, tying together both the Alien and Predator movies, but appealed to those not the least bit interested in either. That's because it was funny when it needed to be, scary without resorting to excessive gore, and all around entertaining.
